Exercise Discretion When Interviewing Candidates 

Now that the job listings have been posted and some people have begun to respond to them, it’s time to begin the process of selecting the best candidates. If your job listing provided an in-depth description of what’s expected, then it’s time to see who is the best fit. These are some ideal characteristics to keep an eye out for. 

  • Prior experience in the same or similar field to your franchise. 
  • Positive attitude towards work and productivity. 
  • If they’re going to be part of a team, do they come across as a team player?
  • Did they arrive at the interview on time? 
  • How did the candidate presents themselves -- did they make the effort to present themselves as a good fit? Will they be a strong representative of your brand?
  • Communication skills: were their email, text, and/or phone skills mature and appropriate? Do they have the level of written or verbal skills that you need?

Once the hiring process is complete and your new employee is on board, the next step is training. Your training program should cover everything new employees need to know about their jobs, including rules, processes, the company’s goals, brand image, and anything else that is expected of them.
