How to Truly Make a Difference For Black History Month

Posted by digiadmin on February 16, 2022

FranSave wants to acknowledge Black History Month by highlighting some effective ways to promote and grow business among the black community every month. This is an important objective as our nation takes the time to reflect on the significance of black history during February.

Ways To Make a Difference This Black History Month

  • Support Black-Owned Businesses
      • We believe one way to honor, include, and value a particular community is to participate with it in business. This is especially critical now since the COVID-19 shutdowns led to the shutdown of more than 40% of black-owned businesses in America. There is no better way to help each other heal from hardships than to cooperate to grow businesses that serve each other better.
      • Supporting black-owned businesses is important to FranSave every month. A great way to do this is to use black-owned business directories like Black-Owned Brooklyn, a family-driven initiative that conveniently lists businesses in that area. There’s also one called, EatOkra, which focuses on black-owned restaurants and connects more than 350,000 black entrepreneurs nationwide.
  • Add Inclusion Statements
      • Many American companies have mission statements that reflect their general business purpose as well as whom they serve. Recently, some companies have added an “inclusion statement,” which is an important corollary to the mission statement. In it, companies vow to strive for as much cultural and demographic inclusion as possible; to avoid neglecting any important American community. You can do this too and assure your clients, partners, and the world that your business values inclusion.
    • ERGs assist under-represented minority groups in development and career advancement and help employees navigate the business environment.
    • They help improve working conditions for alienated workers, bring together like-minded members of traditionally excluded groups, and (perhaps most importantly) help to identify rising stars and new leadership potential within a particular group.

We hope you found these suggestions helpful. With the right focus and determination, we can truly make a difference for the members of society who struggle with the various forms of disenfranchisement.

FranSave covers all facets of American business trends particularly within the scope of franchising. We hope Black History Month engenders more inclusion, growth, and success for the Black community, a critical component of American culture.
